Regular Mass Attendance Expectations

The best way to prepare to receive the Sacrament of Confirmation is by encountering Jesus in the Eucharist and hearing God's Word at Mass each Sunday.

On Sundays when Confirmation classes are scheduled, students are required to attend the 5:30 PM Mass. Throughout the year, students will actively participate in the liturgy by serving as lectors, ushers, and greeters.

Parents are encouraged to remain for Mass and worship alongside their child. Your presence is an important witness of faith and a meaningful way to support your teen on their journey toward Confirmation.

Class Attendance Expectations

Regular participation is an essential part of preparing for the Sacrament of Confirmation. Students are expected to attend all scheduled classes, retreats, and special events in order to continue in the Confirmation program and receive the Sacrament of Confirmation.

Confirmation sessions begin with participation in the 5:30 PM Sunday Mass, followed by faith formation from 6:45–8:00 PM. Because the Eucharist is the source and summit of our Catholic faith, Mass is an integral part of every Confirmation session, not an optional addition.

To help families plan ahead, the complete schedule is published each June. We ask parents to make every effort to prioritize these dates and avoid scheduling conflicts whenever possible.

Recurring absences may require a candidate to postpone confirmation until make-up preparations can be completed.

Service Hour Expectations

As part of their preparation for the Sacrament of Confirmation, students are required to complete 6 hours of service in Grade 9 and 6 hours of service in Grade 10.

Throughout the year, our parish offers a variety of service opportunities to help students fulfill this requirement. Students are also welcome to complete service through other approved organizations. Ultimately, it is each student's responsibility to identify service opportunities, complete the required hours, and submit them by the designated deadline.

Grade 10 students attend sessions from January through April. Catholic school students begin the program in Grade 10 and do not participate during their freshman (Grade 9) year.

Grade 10 Catholic School students are required to register and will join the program in January of each year.   Grade 10 Catholic school students are required to complete and log 6 hours of service.  Our program offers several opportunities to fulfill this expectation, but ultimately it is the students responsibility to identify and complete their service hours.  View the Service Hours page for more information and how to log hours.
